Banana nice cream is a simple frozen dessert made by blending frozen bananas until creamy. This healthy banana ice cream includes classic banana, strawberry banana, and chocolate banana variations.
Peel and slice 6 bananas, place them in a freezer bag, and freeze until completely solid. Cut 9 oz (250 g) strawberries into pieces, place them in a separate freezer bag, and freeze until solid.
For the banana version, add the frozen banana slices and 1 tablespoon of honey to a high-speed blender or food processor. Blend on high for 1–2 minutes until smooth and creamy, then transfer to a container and freeze.
For the strawberry version, add the frozen banana slices, frozen 9 oz (250 g) strawberries, and 1 tablespoon of honey to the blender. Blend on high for 1–2 minutes until smooth, then transfer to a container and freeze.
For the chocolate version, add the frozen banana slices, 2 tablespoons unsweetened cacao powder, and 1 tablespoon honey to the blender. Blend on high for 1–2 minutes until smooth, transfer to a container, and freeze for 30 minutes for a firmer texture before scooping.
Notes
Use Ripe Bananas: I like to use very ripe bananas because they blend more easily and naturally sweeten the nice cream.Blend Until Creamy: I let the blender run long enough for the mixture to turn smooth and airy, which gives the nice cream a texture similar to soft-serve.Let It Soften Slightly: If the nice cream freezes firm, I leave it at room temperature for about 5 minutes so it becomes easier to scoop.
