These puff pastry cinnamon rolls are a quick, no-yeast version of classic cinnamon rolls, made with store-bought puff pastry and a simple cinnamon sugar filling. They bake up golden, flaky, and ready in under 30 minutes.

Why Puff Pastry Cinnamon Rolls Are the Easiest No-Yeast Shortcut

Using puff pastry makes this recipe especially practical. There's no dough to rise and no kneading involved, which means you still get warm cinnamon rolls without turning baking into a project. The pastry layers puff in the oven, the cinnamon sugar melts into the pastry, and the edges turn crisp while the centers stay soft.

I like this version for last-minute baking, weekend brunch, or when I want something homemade that doesn't require planning ahead. Finished with a light vanilla glaze, these rolls feel familiar and comforting, but much easier than traditional cinnamon rolls.

Why You'll Love It

  • Ready in 30 Minutes: No yeast, no rising, and no waiting, these puff pastry cinnamon rolls go from fridge to oven to table fast.
  • Simple, Reliable Ingredients: Made with refrigerated puff pastry and pantry staples, so there's nothing complicated to prep or plan ahead.

Key Ingredients in Puff Pastry Cinnamon Rolls

You'll find the exact measurements in the recipe card, but here's a closer look at key ingredients and why I use them.

  • Puff Pastry: I use refrigerated puff pastry because it gives flaky layers without any extra work. I keep it cold, then let it sit out for just a few minutes so it rolls easily without getting sticky.
  • Butter, Brown Sugar & Cinnamon: This classic combination melts into the pastry as it bakes, giving that warm cinnamon flavor I always want in a cinnamon roll.
  • Salt: A small amount balances the sweetness and keeps the filling from tasting flat.
  • Powdered Sugar, Milk & Vanilla: A simple glaze that stays smooth and lightly sweet, finishing the rolls without overpowering them.

How to Make Puff Pastry Cinnamon Rolls

You can find the complete printable recipe with measurements below, but for now, here's a quick overview of how it goes:

How to Make Puff Pastry Cinnamon Rolls

1. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Unfold the ready-made refrigerated puff pastry directly on its parchment paper.

2. Mix the Filling: Stir together the butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.

3. Fill and Shape: Spread the filling evenly over the pastry, cut into even strips (about 1⅓ inches / 3.5 cm), then roll each strip tightly into a spiral.

4. Bake and Glaze: Place the rolls in a muffin pan and bake at 400°F / 200°C (180°C fan) for 18-20 minutes until puffed and golden. Let cool for 10-15 minutes, then whisk the glaze and drizzle over the warm rolls.

My Tips for Recipe Success

Frozen Puff Pastry Tip: Thaw frozen puff pastry in the fridge until cold but pliable, then slice while it's still firm for cleaner cuts and better puff.

Use a Muffin Tin: I like baking the rolls in a muffin tin because it helps them puff up evenly and keeps their shape neatly defined as they bake.

Storage: These are best the day they're baked, but leftovers can be kept at room temperature for one day and rewarmed briefly.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F / 200°C (355°F / 180°C fan).
  • Roll out the puff pastry.
  • Mix the butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.
  • Spread the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the puff pastry. Slice the pastry into even slices (about 1⅓ inches / 3.5 cm wide), then roll each slice tightly into a roll.
  • Place the rolls cut-side up in a muffin pan, bake for 18-20 minutes until puffed and golden, then leave them to cool on the tray for 10-15 minutes.
  • Whisk the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls before serving.

Notes

Keep the Pastry Cold: I keep the puff pastry chilled so it slices neatly and bakes up extra flaky.
Even Sizing Matters: Cutting the rolls evenly helps them puff and brown at the same rate, which I always aim for.
Glaze Timing: I drizzle the glaze while the rolls are still warm, so it melts in slightly and sets beautifully on top.
Best the Same Day: These cinnamon rolls are best enjoyed fresh, and I usually serve them the day they’re baked.
Make Ahead: You can slice the rolls and refrigerate them overnight, then bake them fresh the next day.
