Scottish Tablet Recipe
I’ve got a simple recipe that turns a handful of ingredients into something truly special, a batch of smooth, glossy tablets that’s impossible to resist. Once you take a bite, you’ll know what I mean. These Scottish tablets are so good that people will be reaching for another piece before they even finish the first.
I’ve always wondered why it's called Tablet because it doesn’t look like anything you’d expect from the name. But one thing’s for sure, it’s delicious! It’s a sugary treat with just the right amount of sweetness, and when you take a bite, it has this slight graininess that quickly melts away on your tongue.
If you’ve ever tried fudge, it’s somewhat similar, though not exactly the same. Some folks even call it Scottish fudge, but the texture sets it apart. While fudge tends to be soft and smooth, Tablet is firmer, with a medium-hard bite that gives way to that sweet melt-in-your-mouth experience.
Let’s take this tablet recipe into the kitchen and whip up a sweet treat that’s sure to put a smile on everyone’s face!

💭Tips for Recipe Success
Measure Ingredients Accurately: Use precise measurements for all ingredients. Even slight changes can impact how it turns out.
Stirring Technique: Stir the tablet mixture gently and consistently to avoid sugar crystals from forming.
Cool Gradually: Let the tablet cool slowly at room temperature. Avoid refrigerating it, as quick cooling can cause sugar crystals to form and change the texture.
Storage: Store your Scottish tablets in a cool, dry place to keep its texture just right. You can also use an airtight container or tightly wrap it in plastic to keep it fresh and prevent it from drying out.
❓Commonly Asked Questions
The mixture didn’t get hot enough while cooking it. If the mixture doesn’t reach the right heat level, it won’t solidify properly, leaving you with a soggy mass instead of the firm, delicious treat you’re hoping for.
For this recipe, I do not recommend using the microwave, as it is difficult to get the temperature of the mixture to the required level
