Pumpkin Spice Latte

Pumpkin season is finally here, and you're going to want to keep making this delicious recipe again and again. I absolutely love cozy fall and winter drinks, like my healthier honey lemon ginger tea.

Skip the Starbucks lines and drive-thru because this pumpkin spice latte is anything but ordinary. Made with real pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spices, it's the creamiest latte you'll ever taste.

If you're feeling a little fancy, like I often do, add a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of extra spices on top. This cozy drink is perfect with breakfast, as an afternoon pick-me-up, or even as a sweet treat after dinner.

The best part? This pumpkin spice latte is super easy to make, and you probably already have most of the ingredients at home. It all comes together in under 10 minutes!

⭐Why You'll Love This Pumpkin Spice Latte

Making a Pumpkin Spice Latte at home is a fun and cozy way to bring that café experience right into your kitchen. The blend of pumpkin, spices, and coffee creates a warm, comforting drink that’s just perfect for those chilly days when you want to feel all the fall vibes.

What’s great is that you can adjust the sweetness, spice, and milk to fit your taste, so it’s always just the way you like it. Plus, it’s a lovely treat to share with friends and family during autumn get-togethers or on a quiet, cozy morning at home.

🧾Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to make this Pumpkin Spice Latte:

Homemade pumpkin spice latte

Pumpkin Puree: It gives an authentic pumpkin flavor and adds a rich, creamy base to the latte. You can Pumpkin Spice: Store-bought pumpkin pie spice works great, but you can also make your own blend with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves. It’s what gives this latte that classic "pumpkin spice" taste.

Sugar: I use sugar to sweeten the latte and balance the espresso’s bitterness with the pumpkin’s earthy flavor. You can also use brown sugar, maple syrup, or honey for extra flavor.

Vanilla Extract: Just a splash adds a subtle sweetness and depth that pairs perfectly with the pumpkin and spices.

Espresso Coffee: A strong espresso adds a bold, rich coffee flavor that contrasts nicely with the sweetness of the other ingredients.

Milk: I prefer whole milk for its creamy texture, but you can use any milk you like.

Cream (Optional): Topping with whipped cream adds an indulgent touch and enhances the latte’s richness.

💭Tips for Recipe Success

Pumpkin Puree: Use pure pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling, to avoid extra sugars and artificial flavors.

Grind Fresh: For the best flavor, grind your coffee beans just before brewing.

Espresso vs. Coffee: No espresso machine? Use strong brewed coffee, doubling the grounds for a bolder taste.

Make in Advance: You can prep the pumpkin puree, spices, sugar, and vanilla ahead of time and store it in the fridge. Just heat and add to your coffee when you're ready.

Instructions

  • In a mug, combine the pumpkin puree, pumpkin spice, sugar, and vanilla extract.
  • Brew 2 shots of espresso coffee. If you don’t have an espresso machine, you can use strong brewed coffee as an alternative.
  • Pour the espresso shots into the mug, stirring until the mixture is well combined.
  • Add the hot milk into the mug.
  • Top with whipped cream and enjoy your homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte!

Notes

Use Fresh Pumpkin Puree: For the best pumpkin spice latte, use fresh pumpkin puree instead of pumpkin pie filling, which has extra sugars and spices. You can even make your own by roasting or steaming fresh pumpkin if you like.
Choose Quality Coffee: Pick high-quality coffee beans, whether you’re using espresso or strong brewed coffee. Freshly ground coffee will give you the richest flavor.
Froth Your Milk: Frothing the milk adds a nice texture to your latte. You can use a frother, a French press, or even shake the milk in a jar before heating it. Just heat it gently to avoid scalding.
Top with Whipped Cream: Topping with whipped cream is optional but adds a touch of luxury. For a special treat, drizzle with caramel or chocolate sauce and a sprinkle of pumpkin spice.
Serve Immediately: Serve your latte immediately for the best flavor—it's always best fresh and hot. Store Pumpkin Mixture Separately: If you’re making this ahead of time, store the pumpkin spice mixture separately from the milk and coffee to keep the flavors fresh.
