Banana Nice Cream

On hot days, nothing feels better than a bowl of Banana Nice Cream. It's simple, naturally sweet, and always makes me wonder how something so easy can taste this good.

Recipe
Ice cream without sugar

When I was little, we didn't always have tubs of ice cream in the freezer, but there were always bananas on the counter. Now I freeze them, add strawberries or cacao, and it reminds me of those quick kitchen fixes that felt like magic.

Sometimes I make all three flavors at once, banana, strawberry, and chocolate, and keep them in small containers. Opening the freezer feels like I've stocked a little ice cream shop at home, with choices depending on my mood.

🧾Banana Nice Cream Ingredients

Here's what you need to make this Banana Nice Cream:

  • Bananas: I love how bananas transform when frozen; they give the nice cream its creamy base without needing dairy.
  • Strawberries: Their natural sweetness and tang brighten the mix, and I think they make it taste fresher.
  • Honey: A spoonful of honey balances everything, especially if the fruit isn't super ripe.
  • Cacao Powder: I like adding this for a rich chocolate twist without being heavy.

👩🏻‍🍳How to Make Banana Nice Cream

You can find the complete printable Banana Nice Cream recipe with measurements below, but for now, here's a quick overview of how it goes:

process 1-4

1. Slice ripe bananas and strawberries, then freeze them in separate bags.

2. For plain nice cream, blend frozen bananas with honey until smooth, then freeze.

3. For strawberry nice cream, blend frozen bananas, strawberries, and honey until creamy, then freeze.

4. For chocolate nice cream, blend frozen bananas, cacao powder, and honey, then freeze for 30 minutes before scooping.

💭Tips for Recipe Success

Prep Fruit in Advance: I usually slice and freeze bananas and strawberries the night before so they're ready when I want to make it.

Don't Overfreeze: If the nice cream gets too hard, I leave it out for a few minutes before scooping.

Storage Tip: I keep leftovers in small airtight containers, which makes it easier to grab just the amount I want.

Instructions

  • Peel the ripe bananas, slice them, and place them in a freezer bag. Freeze until solid.
  • Cut the strawberries into pieces, place them in a freezer bag, and freeze until solid.
  • Add the frozen banana slices and 1 tablespoon of honey to a high-speed blender or food processor. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth. Transfer to a container and freeze.
  • Add the frozen banana slices, frozen strawberry pieces, and 1 tablespoon of honey to the blender. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth. Transfer to a container and freeze.
  • Add the frozen banana slices, cacao powder, and 1 tablespoon of honey to the blender. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth. Transfer to a container and freeze for 30 minutes for a firmer texture, then scoop with an ice cream scoop.

Notes

Blend Until Creamy: I like to let the blender run long enough so the mixture turns out extra smooth, just like real ice cream.
Adjust the Sweetness: Depending on how ripe the bananas are, sometimes I add a little extra honey for balance.
Scoop Trick: If the nice cream feels too firm, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before scooping.
Flavor Variety: I often make all three versions, banana, strawberry, and chocolate, and keep them side by side in the freezer for a fun mix-and-match dessert.
