This spicy feta dip, known as tirokafteri, blends feta, roasted red peppers, Greek yogurt, and chili in a food processor for a creamy, slightly textured finish. It takes about 5 minutes to make and balances salty, tangy, sweet, and gently spicy flavors.

Why You'll Love My Spicy Feta Dip
- Balanced, Not Overpowering: Greek yogurt and sweet roasted peppers soften the salty feta and chili heat.
- Texture You Can Control: Pulse briefly for visible pieces of feta or blend longer for a smoother dip.
- Easy to Adjust the Heat: Remove the chili seeds for a milder result or leave them in for more warmth.
- Useful Beyond Dipping: Serve it on a mezze board or spread leftovers over bread and sandwiches.
When I want a relaxed mezze-style lunch without preparing several complicated dishes, this is one of the dips I like to put in the center of the table. I set it out with warm pita and crisp vegetables, then add something cooling like tzatziki sauce and something smooth and mellow like hummus without tahini. If I want to make the spread feel more substantial, I include Greek-style baked feta as well. What I enjoy about serving these together is that every dish brings something different, while everything still feels connected.
For this version, I keep the salty, tangy character of feta while using Greek yogurt and roasted red peppers to make it creamier and more balanced. The peppers add gentle sweetness, while the chili, garlic, and white wine vinegar bring warmth and sharpness without overpowering the cheese. I use a food processor because it brings the dip together quickly, but I stop blending while small pieces of feta are still visible so the texture does not become completely smooth. It has some of the roasted-pepper sweetness I enjoy in muhammara, but the feta gives tirokafteri a sharper, more savory finish. This balance of salty feta, sweet peppers, creamy yogurt, and controlled heat is why the recipe works so well.

What Is Tirokafteri?
Tirokafteri is a Greek spicy feta dip commonly served as part of a mezze spread with pita or bread. Recipes vary, but this version combines feta with Greek yogurt, roasted red peppers, chili, garlic, vinegar, olive oil, paprika, red pepper flakes, and oregano.
Key Ingredients in Tirokafteri
You will find the exact measurements in the recipe card, but these are the ingredients that shape the dip's flavor and texture.
- Feta and Greek Yogurt: I use block feta rather than pre-crumbled cheese, while full-fat Greek yogurt softens its saltiness and helps make the dip creamy.
- Roasted Bell Peppers: These add sweetness, color, and moisture, so I drain them thoroughly before blending.
- Chili and Garlic: Fresh red chili provides the heat, while garlic gives the dip a deeper savory flavor.
- Olive Oil, Vinegar and Seasonings: Extra-virgin olive oil adds richness, while white wine vinegar, paprika, red pepper flakes, and oregano bring balance and warmth.
How to Make Tirokafteri
The entire dip comes together in the food processor before being transferred to a serving bowl and garnished. You can find the complete printable recipe with measurements below, but for now.

1. Add Everything to the Food Processor: Combine the feta, yogurt, roasted peppers, chili, garlic, extra virgin olive oil, vinegar, paprika, red pepper flakes, and oregano.
2. Blend until Creamy: Pulse or blend until smooth but still slightly textured from the feta.
3. Spoon into a Dish: Transfer to a bowl or plate and spread it out with the back of a spoon.
4. Garnish: Add crumbled feta, parsley, a sprinkle of paprika and oregano, and finish with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil over the tirokafteri.

Tips for Tirokafteri
Break Up the Feta First: I break the feta into smaller chunks before adding it to the food processor so it blends evenly without needing to process the dip for too long.
Scrape Down the Food Processor: Pause once during blending and scrape around the bowl so the garlic, paprika, and oregano are evenly incorporated.
Taste Before Adding Salt: Feta and jarred roasted peppers can already contain plenty of salt, so I taste the finished dip before deciding whether it needs any additional seasoning.
Storage
I keep leftover tirokafteri in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Give it a good stir before serving, and add a small drizzle of olive oil if it has thickened.
What to Serve With Tirokafteri
I usually serve this spicy feta dip with warm pita, pita chips, cucumber, or bell pepper strips. For a more substantial Greek-style spread, add Greek pork souvlaki, Greek chicken souvlaki, or a batch of crispy seed crackers.
