Italian Dressing Chicken has a way of feeling comforting and reliable, like a go-to recipe you can always count on. For years, I used store-bought dressing to whip up this easy dish whenever I needed a quick, flavorful dinner. But then I started making my own Italian dressing, and it completely changed the game. The bold, herby flavor of Italian seasoning mixed with garlic, vinegar, and extra virgin olive oil gives this dish such a vibrant and satisfying taste.

I love how simple and fuss-free this Italian dressing chicken recipe is. Just marinate, bake, and serve! The homemade Italian dressing adds a zesty kick to the chicken, making it juicy and delicious.
It’s perfect for busy days when I need something quick yet satisfying. Whether you’re serving it for a casual weeknight dinner or a relaxed weekend meal, it always hits the spot.

🧾Italian Dressing Chicken Ingredients
Here’s what you need to make this Italian Dressing Chicken recipe:
- Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts: I like using chicken breasts because they cook evenly and stay tender when marinated properly.
- Homemade Italian Dressing: My go-to is made with extra virgin olive oil, vinegar, garlic, and Italian seasoning. Using Italian seasoning instead of fresh herbs keeps things simple and adds that familiar, comforting flavor I love. You can use store-bought Italian dressing, such as Olive Garden Italian dressing, instead of making it from scratch.

👩🏻🍳How to Make Italian Dressing Chicken
These step-by-step instructions and photos will help you to visualize how to make this recipe. See the recipe card for a printable version of this recipe.

1. Marinate the Chicken: Place the chicken breasts in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the homemade Italian dressing over the chicken, ensuring each piece is coated thoroughly. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 3 hours for the best flavor.
2. Prepare for Baking: Transfer the marinated chicken to a baking dish, pouring any remaining dressing over the top to keep it juicy while baking.
3. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven to 392°F (200°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
4. Rest and Serve: Let the chicken rest for about 5 minutes before slicing and serving. Drizzle with extra cooked marinade if desired.

🍽 What to Serve with Italian Dressing Chicken
When I serve Italian Dressing Chicken, I love pairing it with a fresh tomato burrata salad. The creamy burrata and juicy tomatoes drizzled with olive oil and balsamic glaze complement the chicken’s herby, zesty flavor beautifully.
Crusty ciabatta or buttery garlic bread is perfect for soaking up the extra juices, while roasted potato wedges add a comforting touch. And for dessert, I like to finish things off with a light, refreshing lemon mousse. Its bright, citrusy flavor feels like the perfect way to round out the meal.

💭Tips for Recipe Success
Use Italian Seasoning for Convenience and Flavor: I love how Italian seasoning provides a perfect blend of herbs without the need for chopping fresh ones. It’s a reliable pantry staple that always delivers great flavor.
Don’t Over-Marinate: While marinating adds flavor, leaving the chicken in the dressing for more than 3 hours can cause it to become too tender and slightly mushy.
Try Grilling for a Smoky Flavor: If you’re in the mood for something different, grill the marinated chicken over medium-high heat for about 6-7 minutes per side.
Leftovers Are Great: Slice the cooked chicken and use it for salads, wraps, or sandwiches the next day.
Storage: Store leftover Italian Dressing Chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, simply microwave or warm it in a skillet over medium heat until heated through.
